RIOT - Civil Unrest: A Realistic Strategy Game Based on Civil Disorder
RIOT - Civil Unrest is a real-time strategy game developed by Merge Games. The game is set in the midst of some of the world's most fractious riots, including the Indignados in Spain, Arab Spring in Egypt, Keratea in Greece, and NoTAV in Italy. The game's creator, Leonard Menchiari, was inspired by his experiences during the NoTAV protests in Italy, which he used to tell the stories and express the feelings experienced during these clashes.
The game offers the player the opportunity to experience both sides of the fight - as the police and the rioters. The player can employ numerous crowd-control tactics, both passive and aggressive, and command different types of squads. The game also offers multiple modes, including single-player, skirmish, and multiplayer modes. Additionally, players can create their riots with the level editor, altering the look of the confrontation by importing their own background graphics.
